Shield bedwetting alarms use 2 AAA batteries. Always use fresh batteries in your Shield. Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not use rechargeable batteries.

How do I store the Shield bedwetting alarm during the day when not in use?

For daytime storage, disconnect the sensor from the Shield bedwetting alarm unit. The lights, sounds and vibrations of the alarm unit will stop. The alarm unit enters standby (power save) mode. Store the alarm unit and sensor in a cool dry place.

How long do batteries last?

Your Shield is designed to have an ultra-long battery life. If the sensor is disconnected when not in use, the batteries should last a year or longer.

How do I connect the strong hold sensor to the alarm unit?

Fasten the alarm unit to the outside neckline or around arm with optional armband accessory (sold separately).

Clip the sensor to the outside of your child’s undergarment.

Now, run the cord under your child’s shirt and insert sensor plug into sensor jack of the alarm unit.

Can I use a diaper with the Shield bedwetting alarm?

If using a diaper, first attach the sensor to the outside of your child’s undergarment and follow instructions in the previous section. Wear the diaper on top of the attached sensor so that the sensor is sandwiched between the underwear and diaper.

How do I program the Shield alarm?

Shield bedwetting alarm can be programmed with one program button that allows you to choose from sound and vibrate, sound (only) and vibrate (only) mode.

What is the correct way of placing the sensor?

Fold the cloth near the point of urination by holding it between your fingers and thumbs.
Lift the lever and insert the folded cloth into the open sensor.

Attach the sensor on outside of your child’s underwear.

To start monitoring for bedwetting events, insert the sensor plug into the sensor jack. The alarm unit will beeps, vibrates and flashes a light.

Can I use diapers with Shield Bedwetting Alarm?

Absolutely! Many parents prefer using diapers with Shield bedwetting alarm as an extra precaution to prevent soiled sheets.
Attach the sensor to the outside of child’s underwear, and place the diaper over the underwear. The sensor should be sandwiched between the undergarment and the diaper.

Troubleshooting the Shield Bedwetting Alarm

I see my alarm unit light is continuously on. What should I do?

The Shield Bedwetting Alarm has low battery detection. Most likely the batteries of the alarm unit are week and need to be replaced. When the batteries are low the LED lights up and button is unresponsive. If this is the case, please remove old batteries and replace with new AAA batteries.

My sensor doesn’t seem to be detecting urine?

It is likely that the sensor needs to be washed as urine salts may have deposited on it over time. Please follow these steps to clean the sensor.

Disconnect the sensor from the alarm unit by unplugging the plug from sensor jack.

Lift the lever to detach sensor from the underwear.

Clean the inside of the sensor with soapy water and a small toothbrush.

Shake the sensor to remove excess water

Wipe with an absorbent cloth to ensure the sensor is completely dry before reuse.

Reinsert the sensor into the alarm unit to begin monitoring for bedwetting events again.

How do I attach comfy-armband?

  1. Remove the snap-on clip from your Shield alarm and place the alarm in the comfy-armband pouch.
  2. Slide the comfy-armband onto your child’s arm, adjust the strap so it fits comfortably and then secure the Velcro tab. Do not secure the tab too tightly.

Clean the alarm unit soft, dry cloth. Do not place the alarm unit under water. If needed, wipe the dry Shield bedwetting alarm with a pre-saturated alcohol wipes to disinfect it.
